This next project was another group project. Each of us had the task of building an instrument(string, percussion, wind). Our instrument had to have three detachable parts, play 5 different notes, and be enticing to high school students. We were given about a month to plan, design, draw, and build our instrument. At the end of the unit, our group had to give a technical presentation on all of the instruments, describing how they were built, what it is made of, and the physics behind.
For my Physics class, we wrote an introduction on the research of a certain topic. My topic was suicide, and my group's testable question was to explore the causes of teen suicide. In the introduction, we were assigned to input a claim, a testable question, a hypothesis, research and evidence, and our own personal experiences. A testable question is a specific question you test with an experiment. A hypothesis leads to that experiment. Since my topic was suicide, I found some reasons for suicidal thoughts/attempts shocking.
We also practiced verifying our own sources.
